Supplies
I purchased my supplies during a quick stop at the Dollar Tree on my way home from work. To save time, you can order on-line and pick-up for free at your local Dollar Tree store.

Assembling your fall planter
To get started, pull the stems apart. This will allow you to spread out the colors. Some stems pulled apart easily, but you might need to cut them. Scissors work, but wire cutters would make the job easier. Place foam in planter and you are ready to ‘plant’. I found this cute tin planter at the Dollar Tree, but you can use other planters.
Arrange flowers and begin inserting into the foam. Try to spread the colors and textures, as well as pressing into the foam to get different heights.
After the flowers are inserted, begin to cover the foam and fill open gaps with Spanish moss. Pull apart the moss and thread through the flower stems. I prefer to add the moss before inserting the flowers, but the Dollar Tree was out of it and I had to make a return date. Just couldn’t wait to get the flowers assembled.
Here’s the finished planter. $7 all in and I think it looks perfect for a little fall accent in my kitchen.
In the end, I moved the planter to a small shelf on the back porch next to back door. Looks welcoming with the sign and glass and natural pumpkins.

Party Idea
Crafting fall planters would make a great party activity. Invite some friends or neighbors over for a couple of hours on a weeknight evening. Have everyone bring and appetizer or dessert to share. Supply wine, beer, cider and non-alcoholic beverages. Ask guests to bring a specific number of fall flower bunches, foam, moss, containers, ribbon or other decorations. Another option is to ask them to pitch in a certain dollar amount and you can purchase supplies.
